What is itrezzoAgent EPS?
The itrezzoAgent EPS (Patent Pending) manages BlackBerry PIN and telephone data for the purpose of emergency communications. It automates the synchronization of company contacts with the handhelds throughout an organization. PIN's are automatically updated on every contact where there is a respective BlackBerry Handheld (within your organization). There is no manual keying of PIN's by either users or administrators
Why itrezzoAgent EPS?
PINS were once unappreciated. Several customers were even planning to disable PIN-to-PIN capability on BlackBerry handhelds!. However, after September 11, many of the same customers had a profound new appreciation for BlackBerry PIN-To-PIN messaging, and in a complete reversal, they are incorporating this capability into their Emergency Preparedness Plans. One obstacle remained to this strategy. They must coordinate and compel users to manually add and continuously update PIN information for their existing contacts? This is the problem addressed by itrezzoAgent EPS
Who might benefit from itrezzoAgent EPS?
After a catastrophe, clearly anyone in the organization can benefit if the normal email systems are not available. However, BlackBerry and Messaging professionals from many organizations have found that PIN-to-PIN communications is invaluable should a failure occur on the internal network. If the problem you are trying to fix has caused an e-mail failure, PIN messaging is an incredible tool that no IT Professional should be without.
What else does EPS do for me? Just PIN updates?
Once our customers started having EPS transparently update PIN information, there were two other contact fields that our customers asked us to update as well. The first being the Mobile Phone field and the second being the Nextel Direct Connect ID. Updates to other fields such as Business Phone, Fax and home phone number can also be updated.
What if my director or CEO doesn't want his or her PIN information shared with the entire organization?
We have added a VIP/Privacy option. When this option is set, you can choose to restrict who will receive updates from the VIP's personal contact information.
We already have Public Folders with Contacts in them. We want to be able to get those contacts to our BlackBerry users. Is there a way to do this too?
Yes, we have implemented a feature called "Alternate Contact Lists". This will be supported in a release in 3Q2003. If your organization isn't too large, you can put all or portions of your GAL into an Alternate Contacts folder so that users will have the entire GAL on their handheld.
How is EPS related to itrezzoAgent Asset Manager (IAM)?
EPS is based on itrezzoAgent Asset Management (IAM). You can tell IAM to scan any or all of the BES servers in your Organization. It places the results of this scan in an Exchange Public Folder. Our IAM customers love this because they can give their help desk read only access to a unified view of all BlackBerry handhelds in their organization along with valuable diagnostic and historical information. IAM also has an optional handheld applet that works on all BlackBerry handhelds (including the new J2ME BlackBerry Phones.) The applet provides even richer hardware and software information about handhelds.
What else can itrezzoAgent Asset Management (IAM) do?
IAM provides BES administrators with enhanced reporting about their BlackBerry infrastructure. Even if you have many BES Servers with multiple BES Mailboxes and multiple SQL BES databases, IAM can provide you with a single view of all users and easily allow you to see relationships. For example:
o Which BES Servers have users on Exchange server NY-Exch01
o Which Exchange Servers have users on LA-BES1?
o Which BES users are in the SouthEast Exchange Site?
o How many total GPRS users were added this week? You can also track replacement handhelds, defective handhelds, airtime contracts, match contracts to users, be notified about contract expirations, see a handheld history by user, see a user history by handheld etc. All of the above reports can be exported into Excel in a matter of seconds.
What is involved in setting up EPS?
When you purchase EPS you receive a server side application with a license for the number of users (seats). Additional seats may be purchased. Typically the server will first be downloaded for free from our site and installed with our assistance. Once a free trial ensures that everything is working and that EPS meets your corporate needs, the server and license packs are purchased. It's that simple.
What exchange servers are supported by EPS?
EPS supports Microsoft Exchange versions 5.5, 2000 and 2003. Note: Though it can run on the computer with the exchange server, it is recommended that EPS be installed on a separate computer.
