BlackBerry Performance Pack FAQ

What is the procedure to get the BES Performance Pack running on my Network?

  1. First, you must download the itrezzoAgent server software and install it. Most customers install this software on their BES. You may install it on another system if you check the prerequisites document on the itrezzo download page.

  2.  After installation, you will be prompted to request a free license pack.

  3. Once you receive the license pack via email, you can configure and run BPP.


How long does the BES Performance take to get installed?


If you have all of the prerequisites met, most server installations take about 10 minutes. Once you receive the license packs, allow another 20 minutes for configuration and setup.

Is the BES Performance Pack really free?


The BPP feature was designed from the start as a free component of the itrezzoAgent server. No price has been set for this product, and for the foreseeable future, the product price will remain free.

Why is itrezzo offering this for free?


With a history of working with BlackBerry Enterprise Server as far back as BES version 1.4, itrezzo has a long history of offering one or more valuable solutions at no charge to BlackBerry administrators. By offering BPP for free, itrezzo promotes goodwill within the BlackBerry Community, gets valuable feedback from a wide range of organizations and promotes brand recognition.

What happens when the license expires? How do I renew?

The exact scenario may change during the next 12 months. Some of the options itrezzo is considering to fulfill free renewals are as follows:

    1. Filling out a short survey to help us better define the market for our other products.
    2. Trialing our other products and providing feedback.
    3. Having a colleague or friend at another company install BPP.

How many users and or servers can I have with the free license?


Initially, you can have an unlimited number of BlackBerry Enterprise servers, or BlackBerry handheld users. When the product is more mature, itrezzo may require that you pay a nominal charge for support to handle large number of servers or users. Large is defined by itrezzo as 1000 or more handheld users. If your organization is above this threshold, be advised that we still do not have any specific plans to charge for licensing fees and ample notice will be given if we do.

How many users and or servers will the software handle?


BPP is running at three different customers' sites, each with over 3000 BlackBerry handhelds. Each customer has multiple BES servers and dozens of Exchange mailbox servers. Once you install itrezzoAgent and configure it for a specific mailbox, you can install geographically separate servers that share the license and connect to different SQL and BES servers so scaling to tens of thousands of users will be relatively easy.

What about competitive products?


There are BlackBerry third party developers that are selling products that have similarities to what BPP does. Realistically, someone is unlikely to omit the purchase of one on these products based on the itrezzo free BPP product. As mentioned previously, itrezzo considers this product a contribution to the BlackBerry Community, and that this product stands on its own merits. Cost is not the only consideration when reviewing products and itrezzo recommends that you weight cost and features accordingly when reviewing other products.

Is there free support for this product?


Free telephone support is not offered. There will be only email support. Please do not call the itrezzo Toll Free number seeking free support for this free product. If you wish to purchase Priority Telephone Support, there will be a purchase option listed shortly.

Is there anything I might need to pay for?


For organizations that have medium and large BlackBerry Enterprise Server installations and want be able to reach an itrezzo Technical resource on the phone on short notice, a paid support option will be listed shortly.

Does itrezzo offer PAID support?

Does itrezzo charge for upgrades?

The BES Performance Pack can be upgraded for free by downloading the latest itrezzoAgent server.
Is there support for Lotus Notes / Domino?


At this time there is no support option for Lotus Notes/Domino and there is no scheduled date when itrezzo would make BPP available on BES for Lotus Notes/Domino.
